Wipro 2011 Complete Placement Paper for Business Analyst

Hi All,
How's it's been? Hope you must be preparing well. :)

Here we are sharing our experience of WIPRO campus recruitment, placed in WBUT. We, the students of MTech(software engg, VLSI, Biotech and IT), ME(computer sc.) and BTech(computer sc.& IT), appeared for that, criteria was min 50% in madhyamik or equivalent(10) and HS or equivalent(10+2), and min 60% from diploma/ graduation and post-graduation.

On the very 7th of September WIPRO came to our university regarding campus recruitment.
It started with pre-placement talk with a small presentation. Mr. Goutam Mukherjee shared some info regarding WIPRO and its work culture, prospects, statistics and package. Then one of from the HR team took the lead and cleared the issue of recruitment process (apti test, essay writing, technical, hr, result).

Irrespective of easy or hard, the aptitude test had three sections as following, as usual.

Verbal - 20 marks (20 questions)
It had a paragraph of plankton and antibacterial corruption.
1Questions from proper title
2 synonyms
2 antonyms

Quantities - 20 marks (20 questions)
There were total 20 questions containing age, percentage, signature, positions, pseudo code etc.

Technical - 10 marks (10 questions)
There were questions on output determination from c program (mostly), switch, pointer, address.
UNIX or Linux and widows command line instructions.
Present architecture or technology manufacturer (who manufactures what)

After that we had thrown off a paper to put down, whatever comes in our mind, on the titled topic
"The present-day work environment and stress", no word limits, but time allotted was 10 min.

In technical, I was appointed to someone (I can't expel the name, even he nicely introduced himself there) who was extremely polite and gentle in behavior with me and at first shot got impressed by CV. Initially he asked about myself without showing interest on my CV. Later he asked about reason behind my academic gap between my BE and MTech. After that I was asked questions related to my past experience(I had 2 yrs of industrial experience), why I left cognizant and why am willing to become a business analyst, what I think of that role, how I have managed clients and enhanced services for them while i was doing freelance, project details. He finally end up with what I had written in the essay, after that he thrown me 3 questions, why WIPRO, why I want to join WIPRO, what if I get better opportunity. He finished with asking if anything was left for him related WIPRO, I asked what's were the importance of the color scheme and strokes of WIPRO LOGO, why it had designed like that.

In HR, I was asked to narrate about my family, myself, schooling, reason behind academic gap between graduation and post-graduation, industry details, freelance details, client I worked for, management skills, why left company like cognizant, future plan, why am willing for post of business analyst, what its importance to me, why business model scheme, what if I get better opportunity or if I move ever if again I got called and am offered from cognizant and etc.

Wish u all the very best for those who are appearing in future days! Give your best!!

Friends don't lose ur confidence if ur failed to get a offer in campus ! we have plenty of opportunities outside the campus !

16. The pacelength P is the distance between the rear of two consecutive footprints. For men, the formula, n/P = 144 gives an approximate relationship between n and P where, n = number of steps per minute and P = pacelength in meters. Bernard knows his pacelength is 164cm. The formula applies to Bernard's walking. Calculate Bernard's walking speed in kmph.

17.A hollow cube of size 5 cm is taken, with a thickness of 1 cm. It is made of smaller cubes of size 1 cm. If 4 faces of the outer surface of the cube are painted, totally how many faces of the smaller cubes remain unpainted?
800
500
488
900

ans:side of cube = 5 cm
its thichness = 1 cm
so volume of outer cube = 5*5*5
volume of inner cube = 3*3*3
volume of the hollow cube = 5*5*5 - 3*3*3 = 98
so total no of small cubes of the size 1 cm = 98/1*1*1 = 98
we know a cube has 6 faces so total no of face = 98*6 = 588
one surface of outer cube contains a total of 25 surface of smaller cube , so when 4 surface of outer cube is painted total no of surface of small cubes i.e supposed to be painted is 4*25 = 100
so the total no of surfaces of small cube that will be remained unpainted is 588-100 = 488

no of faces remain unpainted: 588-( 25* no faces painted)

18. 10 suspects are rounded by the police and questioned about a bank robbery. Only one of them is guilty. A. All suspects are lying or the leftmost suspect is innocent.

19. A lady has fine gloves and hats in her closet- 18 blue, 32 red, and 25 yellow. The lights are out and it is totally dark. In spite of the darkness, she can make out the difference between a hat and a glove. She takes out an item out of the closet only if she is sure that if it is a glove. How many gloves must she take out to make sure she has a pair of each color?
a)50 b)8 c)60 d)42
ans:60
There can be lots of logic for this, but approach the simplest one so that we approach to one of the solutions. Suppose the lady first picks 32 Red gloves, and then 24 Yellow gloves. The next pair she pics will be one Yellow and One Blue which does not make a pair. The next two will be blue gloves. So she make a total of 32+24+1+1+2 = 60 picks.

20. One day Rapunzel meets Dwarf and Byte in the Forest of forgetfulness. She knows that Dwarf lies on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and tells the truth on the other days of the week. Now they make the following statements to Rapunzel – Dwarf: Yesterday was one of those days when I lie. Byte: Yesterday was one of those days when I lie too. What day is it?

a]Thursday
b]Tuesday
c]Sunday
d]Monday
ANS::
Thursday
Explanation :
On Thursday, Dwarf says truth. i.e Yesterday(Wednesday) was one of those days when I lies. Its true.
On the other hand, On Thursday, Byte lies. i.e Yesterday(Wednesday) was one of those days when I lie too. Its a lie.... So both satisfied. Hence its Thursday.

Getting job in TCS is one of my great achievements in my life.

All the best!

See you in TCS.

Me : Shook his hand with a smile in face. Then again saying thank you, I came out of the room.

My interview went for about 35 minutes.I came out around 4.30 pm. The results were declared at 8 pm...and I was selected. I was like on cloud nine....More so because almost all of my friends were selected. But, some did not get through, I was feeling bad for them. But you never know..a much bigger opportunity may be waiting for them.

So, all aspirants, prepare well, be confidant & never lose hope..just remember one thing : You need not prepare all subjects at once. Prepare those which you are comfortable...& then keep in mind that : "You don't have to remember everything...because no interviewer is smart enough to ask you everything"...

So best of luck to all of you...will meet you at TCS one day....Finally, thank I thank freshersworld for helping me a lot during preparation & giving me the chance to share my experience...I would also thank testfunda.com , m4maths.com & all my friends who helped me in solving the aptitude questions. If you face any problem regarding the solution of apptitude questions or interview preparation...feel free to mail me at pktheking.paul@gmail.com.
