Position Summary

Overview: 
Lead integrated, complex or cross-departmental projects and manage the ongoing maintenance of a group of related activities.

Responsibilities: 
Act as project manager: establish project plans and conduct work team meetings; establish and maintain project implementation plans and project status reports; formulate testing and piloting of new processes and systems; ensure user acceptance of changes based on functional requirements; plan and execute smooth transition of responsibilities to support staff at completion of project. Analyze project standards, methodologies and impacts: appraise alternative system and processes for workability and economic feasibility; recommend modifications to application designs or current procedures; negotiate design and implementation methodology with users and vendors; prepare specifications for system implementation analysis; organize and participate in the design of user procedures analyze project impacts and dependencies across TCH; ensure vendor participation in addressing problems and tracking resolutions.

Knowledge and Skills: 
Knowledge of current hospital and departmental business practices, computer systems and hospital standard software required. Familiar with data processing techniques and practices, working knowledge of a variety of hardware and software environments and thorough knowledge of the healthcare industry and patient access function also required. The ability to demonstrate expertise in project management, multi-tasking, planning and process mapping; demonstrate group presentation, leadership, team building, written and verbal communication, analytical and organizational skills; analyze systems and processes and their ability to fit within specifications; and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Education and Experience: 
Bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration, health information management, healthcare administration, nursing or other related field with five (5) years experience in health information management, project management and/or support required. An equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be substituted for those specified.
