Nifty futures edge up as markets look for year-end cheer

Nifty futures edge up as markets look for year-end cheer

#BSE #Equity market #Eurozone #nifty #Sensex #Wall Street #Whileyouweresleeping

Hong Kong: The Indian market appears determined to finish what has been a horrendous year on a relatively upbeat note. Yesterday's rally has feeble legs, and going by how Nifty futures are trading this morning, the rally could spill over into today.

As at 7.30 am IST, Nifty futures are trading marginally higher, pointing to a very mildly positive start to trade today.

But otherwise, there are no global cues to pick up from, since most Asian markets are on holiday, as was Wall Street overnight.

The market looks determined to end what has been a horrendous year on a highYet, looking beyond today, analysts reckon that the new year will bring yet more pain since the global economy still faces economic headwinds, and the prospect of a recession haunts most developed economies.
India's growth engine too is faltering, even if it is a relative outperformer. Even if inflation is finally vanquished and interest rates start to come down, it could be a while before it gains traction and fires up the economy. Any consideration of economic reforms – if the government does have courage to see them through – must wait till the current round of State elections are over.

Even if the economy revives in the second half, the overhang from everything that's happening in Europe and in the US will likely cast a dark cloud over investor sentiment. There's a very real risk of sovereign rating downgrades in many of the AAA rated economies.

Overall, perhaps a mildly positive start to trade today, but the underlying sentiment is far from robust.

Job market 2012: Slow hiring but double-digit salary hikes IndiaInc JobAlert Recruitment

Job market 2012: Slow hiring but double-digit salary hikes

IndiaInc JobAlert Recruitment

New Delhi: The Indian job market is expected to see slower hiring activity, but double-digit salary hikes next year as employers are embracing a "cautiously optimistic" approach amid the economic uncertainty.

Surviving overall global sluggishness replete with large-scale layoffs in different sectors, the domestic employment scenario has gathered some steam toward the end of 2011, as reflected in the relatively better hiring plans of companies.

The experts, as well as different surveys, are projecting a slower pace of hiring activities in the country in the New Year, but said India would still fare better than its global peers.

Though most companies are unlikely to trim their headcount, as has been the case in many other countries, new hiring could be put on hold, at least in some segments. Reuters
However, apprehensions are high that the economic slowdown and declining industrial output could seriously affect the hiring plans of corporates, experts said.

"Although there will be a variation in employment generation outlook across sectors, new jobs will continue to be added, but at a slower pace," global HR consultancy Ma Foi Randstad MD and CEO E Balaji told PTI.

"The global economic uncertainty has impacted the Indian market, inspite of the positive sentiments displayed at the beginning of 2011," he noted.

In the coming months, recruitment is expected to grow in sectors such as retail, healthcare and IT & ITeS, defence, hospitality, consumer durable and nuclear energy. Global human resources major Hay Group's India Managing Director, Gaurav Lahiri, believes that India, to some extent, is insulated from layoffs happening in the developed world. "The Indian employment market is cautiously optimistic," Lahiri said.

As per Hay Group, India may see low double-digit salary hikes of as much as 12 percent across various levels in 2012. This would be slightly better than the average pay increase of about 11 per cent in 2011.

However, HR experts tracking various sectors feel there will be a slowdown in recruitment activity in the coming months. Though most companies are unlikely to trim their headcount, as has been the case in many other countries, new hiring could be put on hold, at least in some segments.

Staffing solutions company TeamLease Services' Senior Vice-President and Co-Founder Sangeeta Lala said that new job creation over the last six months has declined by 15 percent from the year-ago levels, mainly in sales and customer services. The uncertain economic environment and a perceived policy paralysis have also dampened the consumer sentiment and are affecting new job offers.

The sectors where new job creation has been adversely affected include FMCG, sales, customer service operations, insurance and telecom. Ma Foi Randstad said in a report in October that there was a shortfall of 2,29,500 jobs, as against the prediction of 1.6 million made at the beginning of 2011.

However, experts believe that the healthy growth rate of the Indian economy at 7-8 percent presents "hope" for the domestic job market. "… Today companies are more serious about getting the right talent… many are looking for lesser number but more impactful people," Lahiri said.

The Indian hiring landscape, however, has a serious drawback — talent shortage — as a significant number of people are either "unemployable" or inadequately skilled, largely due to the mismatch between the requirements of the industry and the education provided in colleges and management schools.

Experts believe organisations should ensure adequate in-house training or a tie-up with academic institutions to train their existing staff to fill the gap. "Businesses should espouse a long-term approach to ensure they have the talent that is required to achieve their targets by ensuring adequate in-house training or tie-up with academic institutions to either train staff across levels," Balaji said.

Tech Mahindra

There were 3 Rounds for the Tech Mahindra Campus.

1st Round was the written test.
Test was online.
In that test there were 10 sections.
Each section has its own cut-off. the sections are English grammer, comprehension, logical reasoning, verbal , non verbal , aptitude, technical etc.
In English section they give one paragraph & 3 questions were on that Para. question like what is the moral of the story etc. but all the question was of objective type.
In English the question was on the topic one word substitutions, synonyms, antonyms etc.
In logical reasoning the questions was on the cube & dice.
In aptitude the topic for questions was time & work, ratio ,proportion, probability, percentage etc.
In technical section it had the questions on basic computer language C & JAVA.
Then the next round was directly the interview.
In interview hr asked me write down the program for 3 stage pyramid in c language. then he asked me about my project in very detail.
But my bad luck was that they select only 10 students from 150.& i was not one of them. so better luck next time.
Plz read daily news paper .buzz HR can ask any daily issue from political or from any other region.
Refer the book of aptitude by R.S.Agarwal for aptitude test. it is the best book.

Recent Infosys Placement Drive Interview tips Selection Procedure

Recent Infosys Placement Drive Interview tips Selection Procedure

Hello Everyone,

Infosys Paper (for Freshers)
We had pool campus at EAST point college of engg. 3 colleges had participated. (east point,CIT and KIT) Out of 109 from our coll CIT, 16 cleared written and also got placed. This time once again they had the same selection procedure, with written exam being the main filter. With just over 200 (from all 3 colleges) candidates appearing for the exam only around 40 made through it and then 37 got placed.

Test date: 7th Jan, 2011

Test Venue: east point college of engineering.

* Eligibility Criteria: 60% in 10th and 12th
* 65% in Graduation

(Friends be careful about the eligibility criteria, Infosys people are very strict and specific about it ( like even 64.999 % is not at all acceptable ))

The placement process started at about 9:00 am. but the schedule was late by 45 mins, so started at 9:45 am. 2 people from company gave ppt till 10:00am.

* First of all they would give a sheet to collect general information about you. Be sure to have 2 passport size photographs with you. Then after filling of the form the OMR sheet is distributed. You have to encircle the option and write the option in box.
* Aptitude paper was distributed. It was an easy paper 30 questions 40 minutes. Be sure to touch the mark of 18 correct. Though 18 questions is the upper limit. Infy people don't tell the cut offs. But its good to be on the safe side, by getting minimum 18 questions correct.
* First five questions on visual reasoning (very easy).
* Next five questions on Data interpretation.

I don't remember the exact set and values, but set was as such.

* 5 questions on Data sufficiency.

Each problem consists of a problem followed by two statements. Decide whether the data in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Select your answer according to whether:

(A) Any one statement alone is sufficient to answer
(B) both statements taken together are sufficient to answer the question, but neither statement alone is sufficient
(c) each statement alone is sufficient
(D) statements 1 and 2 together are not sufficient, and additional data is needed to answer the question

Another set on Data interpretation ( 5 questions very easy)

*
5 questions on a puzzle P,Q,R,S,T,U,V six perons in a family, two married coupleas. They are in different profession like Engineer, Doctor, Teacher etc etc. (Very easy)
*
Don't do any puzzles of Shakuntla devi and all, not required. No maths questions. Purely logical reasoning paper.
*
Collected L R question paper, distributed English paper (40 questions, 35 mins)(Difficult)

10 questions on Identify the errors (Difficult)
10 questions on correcting underlind sentences ( Moderte difficult)
5 questions on fill in the blanks (Not like appeared in previous papers)

They were actually complete the sentence ( Difficult)

5 questions (moderate difficult)
3 questions on read the pagaraph and find inference.

Passage 1 (5 questions) (EASY)

Passage 2 (5 questions) (Easy, not very lengthy)
completed written round at 1.30.

3:00pm ( announced Candidates shortlisted for interview)
(According to me) Once you are shortlisted, believe me there are very less chances of you being rejected, until and unless you completely ruin your interview yourself)

6:30 my Interview (before I get into room, volunteers collected my cv and the sheet we filled at the start and gave to interviewer)

Me: May I come in, mam.
HR: Yes, Please.

HR: hi.
me: hi , mam. good afternoon
(dont loose eye contact )

HR: What is the project you have done ?
Me: i didn't do any projects . being an ece student thr was no rules to do projects in our academics. bla ...bla...
3 to 4 persons enters the room to give cashew and sweets to HR.

HR: do u like to have it?
me: no mam(but dont tell no , atleast have one. dont take whole of ur palm)
HR: (Saw my resume) asked questions on extra curricurlar activities.
Me: Told.
HR: how u study tough sub?
ME: told.

HR: any questions?
me: no mam.

HR: k thank you
me: thanks for ur questions mam.

Interview ran for about 10 mins. Believe me they are not there to reject you in interview round. They make three lists, fully accepted, fully rejected, and people to be given another chance. People in the third list was again called for an interview.

Results r out at 7pm.

Infosys head of HR department comes and start making announcements

Ans: I have nothing much to ask at this point of time. Well, a quick question came in my mind. Could you please tell me about the initial training programs for the fresh candidates like me? This is because I have heard that your company offers very good training to the freashers.

I shall wait for the interview results. Thanks!

That's all about apti part.

Please prepare questions "why CTS","tell me about yourself" these two is most common, and I also face just these two, after two days CTS created a history at fiem. They took 244 after around 340 cleared aptitude, and I was one of them, hope to meet in CTS.

Latest Jan 2011 Placement Papers of TCS Question papers

Latest Jan 2011 Placement Papers of TCS Question papers

Hello friends....
I am Pritam, CSE student of MCKV Institute of Engineering, 2011 passout batch...TCS came to our college 10th January 2011 for on campus recruitment. Here Iam sharing my interview experiences with all of you....

First of all, u need to clear the aptitude test which consists of 35 questions..80 mins...for that u need to prepare the questions in this site very well..also if you need more such questions, u can email me at pktheking.paul@gmail.com.
I sat for the apptitude around 1.10 pm..the results were declared around 3 pm..I was selected for interview.
Now, as far as the interview is concerned..it was a combined TECH+HR interview. There were nearly 10 panels each consisting 1 Sir/maam...they were in different rooms and around 3:55 I was told by the co-ordinator to go to room no. 312....

Here is the questions I was asked.....

Me : May I come in Sir...
Interviewer : ya sure..
Me : Thank you sir.
Interviewer : (while watching my form)So, Pritam...how's the day going?
Me : It's a fine day sir. But I'm a bit tensed.
Interviewer : why so?
Me : It's my life's first interview sir.
Interviewer : (smiling) Do you need some water?(offering me a bottle of water)
Me : Yes sir...Thank you.
Interviewer : Feeling better now.
Me : Yes sir, thanks again.
Interviewer : Fine...now Pritam ,tell me something about yourself.
Me : Told.(plaese be prepared for this, this is your chance to impress the interviewer at the very beginning of the interview). I gave him my introduction, citing my strong points & I ended my introduction with a question : "Is there anything else you want to know about me sir??"..
Interviewer : No Pritam , That's fine. Do you know binary tree? what is it?
Me : Told.
Interviewer : Good. What is binary search? whats its time complexity?
Me : Told.(I think he liked my answer)
Interviewer : Ok. Do you know about linked lists?
Me : Yes sir.
Interviewer : Whats the difference between link list and array?
Me : I told about memory allocations..etc..
Interviewer : Write a code for insertion at any position in singly linked list.
Me : Sir, should i write the whole code or just the logic will do?
Interviewer : Ok, explain the logic.
Me : Told.
Interviewer : Do you know DBMS? what is the difference between DBMS and RDBMS?
Me : answered.
Interviewer : What is normalization? Explain the normal forms.
Me : Sir, I cn explain upto BCNF..Idont know 4th n 5th nf very well.
Interviewer : Ok, do it.
Me : I answered with an example. The example I had given was a poor example(I gave a,b,c,d as column names) as I forgot the example I prepared, so be prepared with a real world example.
Interviewer : Fine. Do you know C?
Me : Yes sir.
Interviewer : Write a program to print
*
* *
* * *
height is given by the user.
Me : i quickly did it.
Interviewer : Good. Now can you print
1
2 3
4 5 6
like this?
Me : I did.
Interviewer : What's the similarity between structures and union?
Me : Answered.
Interviewer : Do you know java ?
Me : Yes sir.
Interviewer : What are the types of polymorphism in java?
Me : Itold with examples I prepared from Herbert Schildt..
Interviewer : Ok. Why do you want to join TCS?
Me : I told about the stature of the company , how I can make myself & the company grow in a mutual environment...also told about various awards TCS got, great feedback from my senior who are TCS employee..also told about N Chandrashekharan, who joined TCS as trainee like us & now is the CEO.
Interviewer : (Impressed)Ok Pritam, thats all I need to know.(Smiling) Do you have any question?
Me : Yes Sir. I was going through the TCS website yesterday and the first thing that I saw was Global Network Delivery Model. I am very eager to know what is it?
Interviewer : It's a vast topic pritam. But to be precise...(then he explained the basic idea of GNDM)..
Me : Thank you sir. It's a pleasure to talk with you sir.
Interviewer : Same here Pritam. (Than he willingly brought his hand forward to shake my hand)
Me : Shook his hand with a smile in face. Then again saying thank you, I came out of the room.

My interview went for about 35 minutes.I came out around 4.30 pm. The results were declared at 8 pm...and I was selected. I was like on cloud nine....More so because almost all of my friends were selected. But, some did not get through, I was feeling bad for them. But you never know..a much bigger opportunity may be waiting for them.

So, all aspirants, prepare well, be confidant & never lose hope..just remember one thing : You need not prepare all subjects at once. Prepare those which you are comfortable...& then keep in mind that : "You don't have to remember everything...because no interviewer is smart enough to ask you everything"...

So best of luck to all of you...will meet you at TCS one day....Finally, thank I thank freshersworld for helping me a lot during preparation & giving me the chance to share my experience...I would also thank testfunda.com , m4maths.com & all my friends who helped me in solving the aptitude questions. If you face any problem regarding the solution of apptitude questions or interview preparation...feel free to mail me at pktheking.paul@gmail.com.

Infosys Placement Papers January 2011 Latest one

Infosys Placement Papers January 2011 Latest one

Hello Friends,

I'm Arijit from Future Institute of Engineering & Management Kolkata. Infosys came at our college on 19th Jan '11. Reporting was at 7.45 in the morning, proceedings started at 9 am. Mr. Dinesh presented a ppt explaining company profile and objectives.

Please listen carefully(it may be a bit boring). Next we were sent for the aptitude examinations. Before the exam starts, you need to fill up a form with your educational qualification, personal details like name, address, phone no, email id etc. It's extremely tricky, so be careful and follow their instructions. Keep 1 copy photo and your mark sheets with you for filling up the marks, percentages etc. don't make any mistakes.

Coming to the aptitude exams,

Analytical & Logical

Analytical and logical reasoning part consisting of 30 qusetions in 40 minutes time.

From the very first moment hurry!

i) 5 figure puzzles(odd one out, easy)
ii) 5 DI questions(a table was given, calaculations are time consming, R S Agarwal is more than enough)
iii) 5 Data sufficiency(mathematical conclusions were given 2 statements 1 conclusion )
iv) 5 puzzles(A and B plays tennis, cricket. B and C plays cricket, volley etc. who plays what? Agarwal is more than enough)
v) 5 syllogisms(3 premise, Consult R S Agarwal, Draw venn diagram if you can, I couldnt ;-)
vi) 5 puzzles again (Agarwal is enough, chapter: puzzle test)

Cut-offs are generally 60%

Verbal reasoning

Verbal reasoning consisting of 40 questions 35 minutes

Again time is very important. Solve carefully. Concentrate.

i) Two passages were given. I read the short one. The other passage was very long. I first read the questions and picked the answers from the passage. Otherwise you will lose time.
ii) Questions like deriving conslusions from passsages(4-5 lines)
iii) Choosing the correct sentences.
iv) Choosing the incorrect sentences.
v) Replace part of a sentence from 4 given sentences. (bit difficult)

See, in Infosys good marks in the english paper makes the difference. Cutoffs are generally 50-60%. I was a bengali medium student. So don't be afraid.

After the examinations were over we were told to wait. Results came out. 450 students appeared in the test. 134 cleared the written exam.
Now the interview experience.

Interview

From our college 134 were interviewed, 125 got selected. So you can see once you are through with the written exams, chances become very high of getting selected.

NO technical questions.

It was evening when I was called for Interview. Its normal for one to get a bit nervous, but don't get too anxious. I got so tensed that I made a mess of my interview in Cognizant the other day. Enter the room with a smile on your face(hope you know it). I was asked to enter the room. She was a lady interviewer.

Me: May I come in mam?
HR: Please come in.

Me: Good evening mam.
HR: Good evening. Please take a seat.

Me: Thank you.
HR: Just give me a moment.(she was going through my form, my answer sheet and my resume).

HR: Ok, Arijit, what does your father do?
Me: Told.

HR: Do you have any siblings? What do they do?
Me: Told.

Asked something more about my family, Where do I live, How do I come to college, What do I do apart from studies etc.

HR: What sports do you play? How do you compare the experience with the real life? Which one needs nore effort? Why did you chose studies, and did'nt concentrate on playing?
Me: Told. (She liked my answers)

HR: Tell me what are the projects you are doing.
Me: Told.(emphasize on a project which you know well, but remember they don't care about your proect, they wants to see whether you can communicate or not)

Asked something more about my project. Absolutely non technical.

HR: Ok Arijit, you can go. Wish you very good luck in future.
Me: Thank you mam.

HR: Thank you.
It was only for 10-15 minutes.

You need not to be super good in english. Speak in simple basic english. Maintain eye contact all the time. Infosys HR persons are very very very friendly and humble. My interview experience was great!

Finally 125 got selected.

I was one of them. Thanks to all my friends, my college, my teachers, and most of all, my family.

Wish you very good luck!

See you at Infosys.
